Cross Country running is an essential part of most endurance athletes training as it builds both mental and physical toughness.
The County provides access to a higher level of competition via the County Cross Country Championships. From this event athletes are selected for the South West Cross Country Championships and may then go on to represent Wiltshire in the National Inter Counties Cross Country Championships at the end of the season.
Selection to represent Wiltshire in the South West Cross Country Championships to be held at Bicton College in Devon on 5th January 2014 will be based on the athletes position in the County XC Championships. Selectors will also consider athletes who have performed well this season but through injury or illness are unable to run on 8th December. The first three athletes across the line in each age group are guaranteed selection. In order to be considered for selection the athlete must finish in the top 10 of their age group. When available, course details will be found here and club entry forms will be found here.
Following the South West XC Championships selection will be made for the National Inter Counties XC at Cofton Park Birmingham on TBC. 2013 Results are here. All age group teams will consist of 8 athletes. Reserves may be nominated.
