Officials

Officials are fundamental to the success of any competition whatever the discipline. The County has a small group of officials who are always in demand. For this reason we are in  need  of more people to take up this very rewarding job.

Whether you are a parent , a teacher, an athlete or just an enthusiast the County Association will be willing to  give support  and advice  with regards to gaining an officials qualification.

There are Level 2 Track and Field Officials courses being held in Salisbury on Saturday 17^th March, these courses take the form of a generic session followed by a specific session – as selected by the attendee - on Field Judging, Track Judging or Timekeeping.

• Course Code: MO0208FD(Field) : MO0208TR(Track) : MO0208TK(Timekeeping)

These are one day courses that will allow the candidate to work under the supervision of a qualified official in the specific discipline with a view to becoming a qualified technical official.

Please note: The minimum age for this course is 16

Following attendance at this course candidates will have knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

• Appropriate attire/equipment
• Knowledge and understanding of the role
• Ability to follow duty sheet.
• List events/roles covered
• Ability to make quick and correct decisions
• Presentation and accuracy of result card
• Knowledge and application of rules
• Relationship with other officials and with athletes

Full support and mentoring will be available after the courses to enable candidate to gain experience and confidence working as an official in track and field meetings.

The sport, generally,  is suffering from a critical shortage of qualified officials so even if you are only able to devote one or two days a year please consider becoming an official particularly in this Olympics year.
