Swindon - 13th May 2007
On Sunday 6th January 2008 a combined representative
team, mainly sourced
from Wiltshire clubs, travelled to Bicton College, Exmouth for the
Seven-counties X/C Championship on a muddy undulating farmland course.
Wiltshire had immediate success in the under 13 girls race when Loren
Bleaker won from a field of 63 finishers. Also, in the second race - under
13 boys, Alex Carter finished second of the 61 finishers. Wiltshire then
had to wait for the eighth race of the day - the combined senior women and
under 20 women - when Yasmin Smith was first under 20 home. Unfortunately,
due to illness and injury, Wiltshire were unable to field teams of six
runners in every race, but overall - as one of the smallest counties
athletically of Gloucester, Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Avon, and Somerset -
the team were pleased with their result.
