Sportshall from 2005
The Five Rivers Leisure Centre was the venue for the first U11 County Sports:hall competition on Sunday 4 December 2005. The event was organised by County Vice-Chairman and Wessex & Bath AC Chairman, Deborah Bray. The idea behind this and the forthcoming U13/U15 competitions is to enable me to select the best possible athletes in Wiltshire to represent us at the Norwich Union South West Finals at Torbay early in the New Year" says Deborah. "So far, we have come last every time and I know we can do much better if only the support and encouragement available around Wiltshire is harnessed. I know it is a long way to Torbay, but those who come regularly have a great time and are perfectly capable of lasting out the day".
The competition in December saw teams from Wessex & Bath, City of Salisbury, Marlborough & District Juniors and West Wiltshire take part and the excellent competition and sportsmanship made the day a very enjoyable event. The winners on the day were the girls and boys teams from Wessex & Bath so many congratulations go out to them. "In all, 53 kids took part and I hope to take 2 full teams to Torbay if I can get the numbers up to 60" says Deborah.
